With the South African Lifesaving Championships set to take place in a few weeks’ time in Port Elizabeth, lifeguards from around the peninsula had one final chance to hone their skills as they competed at the Western Cape championships, held in Strand, at the weekend. Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club dominated the water events and ended first overall with 1049 points. False Bay showed they were kings of the beach, dominating all the speedy land events. They ended in fifth place overall with 222 points.
