Baroque ensemble beckons live audience

Hear Be Dragons are from left, Jan-Hendrik Harley, Mariechen Mayer, John Pringle, Annien Shaw and Josh Frank.

It’s taken six months but at last,
under lockdown level 1, a live
audience will be able to attend a
Christ Church Constantia concert.

On Sunday October 4, 150
people will be allowed into the
church to hear the Baroque folk
ensemble, Hear Be Dragons.
Jan-Hendrik Harley leads the
unusual and vibrant band, taking
the audience on an exploratory
journey through Scandinavia, the
British Isles, France, Spain, Italy
and Romania with an eclectic mixture of folk and art music.
The ensemble comprises Josh
Frank (recorders), Annien Shaw
(baroque violin), Mariechen
Meyer (double bass), John Pringle (percussion) and Jan-Hendrik
(baroque violin/viola/guitar,
mandolin).
Although Christ Church Constantia can accommodate 390
people, the concert committee
has decided to sell 150 tickets.
Tickets will be available through
Quicket, both for those who wish
to attend, and also for those who
choose to view the concert online.
Parish secretary Camilla Todd will
accept cash in the church office
(021 794 5051, mornings) and
book on your behalf.
On Quicket, if you wish to
attend in person, select the Concert Attendee ticket type for R110.
If you wish to view online, select
the General Admission (online
viewing only) ticket type for R80
(or R150/R300 for generosity
donations.)
Concert attendees need to
bring their masks and will be
required to sanitise their hands
upon entry
