Mandela Day hack

The hills above the Constantia valley vibrated with the hum of chainsaws on Saturday July 28 when the Friends of Vlakkenberg were joined by a group of UCT Mountain and Ski Club students for a Mandela Day hack. They set off from the top of Price Drive and tackled alien Port Jacksons close to the firebreak. The Friends of Vlakkenberg invite all to join them on the third Saturday of the month, from 2pm to 5pm, meeting at the top of Price Drive, Constantia. Take gloves, water, a snack and loppers if you have. Wear sturdy shoes and your oldest clothing, but with long sleeves and long trousers as the fynbos is uncomfortably prickly.
