Malcolm Pearce of Bergvliet took these pictures to show the considerable improvement after recent good rainfall but he estimates that we need another 30 to 40cm of water just to close up around the island, then about another 150cm to reach the spillway. However, just this recent extra spread of water has encouraged four pairs of yellow bill ducks to return, so hopefully the population will continue reinstate to itself. The Friends of Die Oog is holding its annual general meetinb on Monday August 13, at 5.30pm, at the Meadowridge library where Alison Fararady from the Toadnuts will be the guest speaker. Membership is R50 per year with all funds, plus those raised from the sale of gift cards going towards helping the City to maintain Die Oog.
