The launch of the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts kicked off at the weekend, giving people who enjoy being among a melting culture pot of music lovers another festive season activity. The annual concerts run from November to April yearly and see people from all over the southern suburbs and Cape Town coming to see their favourite artists perform in an open-air picnic setting, on Sunday evenings at the Kirstenbosch gardens. The launch saw Crimson House, an Afro-Balkan, Gypsy Blues and cabaret rock style group as well as Southern Wild, an alternative music group infusing  rock, neo-soul and folk in their music. Other artists performing during December include Black Motion, Amanda Black, Watershed, Shekinah, Unathi and Goldfish. On New Year’s Eve Freshlyground will be joined by Nomadic Orchestra and Native Young. Tickets for the concerts range from R170 to R220 and can be purchased at Pick ‘n Pay or Webtickets.
