The Westlake man charged with the robbery, rape and murder of Kalk Bay teenager Franziska Blöchliger appeared briefly in the Western Cape High Court on Friday February 11.
Wearing a grey tracksuit top, Howard Oliver, 28, stood in the dock in front of Judge Andre le Grange. Mr Oliver’s recently appointed lawyer, Ken Klopper, explained that his client would plead guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery.
Prosecutor Lenro Badenhorst said the accused would plead not guilty to murder and the two counts of rape.
In an affidavit read during earlier bail proceedings at Wynberg Magistrate’s Court, Mr Oliver admitted to robbing the 16-year-old while she was jogging in Tokai Park on March 7, last year.
Mr Oliver will remain in custody at Pollsmoor Prison until his pre-trial hearing on Monday April
24.
