One arrest made after body found in Diep River

On Sunday February 11 at noon, Diep River police responded to a complaint of a body lying under the Kendal Road Bridge, M3 Highway.

Members arrived on scene to discover a foreign man who was declared dead by paramedics on scene, possibly from head injuries.

A murder docket was opened and the investigation later revealed that the 25-year-old man had an altercation with a 31-year-old man over money.

Witnesses related to the incident were traced and the suspect was found and arrested two days later on the corner of Ladies Mile and Spaanschemat River roads, Constantia.

Diep River police management would like to applaud Detective Sergeant Ivan Sonnenberg of the Diep River SAPS detective unit for the swift apprehension of the suspect who will be charged for murder and appear in court soon.

Police arrested a suspected drug dealer at the weekend after acting on a tip-off about drugs being sold at Grand Central, in Main Road, Wynberg.

The 33-year-old man was arrested on Sunday Februrary 11, at 3.30am, after police raided a home and found 34 packets of tik; 31 units of heroin; 15 rocks; 12 whole mandrax tablets; 19 half mandrax tablets; an amount of loose dagga; and seven tik lollies.

* Police arrested a 33-year-old man for vehicle theft on Friday February 9 at about 11am.

Diep River police spokesperson, Constable Zak Marais, said they responded to an accident scene on the corners of Lourier and Victoria roads, in Southfield, where it was found that a turquoise sedan involved in the crash had been stolen.

* Police arrested a man after he was caught by law enforcement after allegedly stealing a laptop from a house in Ken Close, Constantia, on Friday February 9.
