The Rotary Club of Constantia held its induction dinner on June 13, with its youth wing, the Rotaract Club of Steenberg, at the Stonehurst Mountain Estate.
The clubs reported their successes under outgoing presidents Bronwyn Maree and Chadwin Petersen, and inducted new presidents Ian Hart and Adrian Ndayambaje respectively.
The evening was attended by 48 guests covering the spectrum of Rotary regional officers, neighbouring club presidents, members, friends, collaborating NGOs and schools.
Incoming District Governor of Rotary District 9350, Ann Wright, a member of Hermanus Club, attended the event as guest of honour. She recently attended the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne.
President Bronwyn Maree, who reported in by Zoom from Limpopo, where she relocated to three months ago, expressed her thanks to Peter Rogers and Ian Hart for running the club in her absence.
Ms Maree also awarded Elizabeth Danckwerts her second Paul Harris Sapphire for her tireless work on local and international projects.
A painting depicting outstretched arms was donated by a young artist, Hugo Kabeya, to Mr Hart. Mr Kabeya said the spontaneous gift was prompted by his gratitude for the Astroturf sports fields which the Constantia Rotary Club recently completed at his alma mater, Capricorn Primary School in Vrygrond.
