The Rotary Club of Constantia held its annual wine festival on Saturday night and from the volume of happy chatter coming from the conference centre at Schoenstatt it was a resounding success.
This is their main fund-raiser of the year and has been running since 1986, originally held at Nova Constantia Manor House. This is the third year the event has been held at Schoenstatt, on the corner of Price Drive and Constantia Main Road. This year the cut-off was 250 tickets on sale, however ,the number of guests exceeded this as guests tucked into finger food and sampled local Constantia wines and from others as far afield as Elgin and Wellington. Meanwhile a silent auction was taking place where they could bid on items including wines, port, a pair of chairs by Pierre Cronje, tickets to a Stormers game, jewellery or a painting by Ania Mullholland.
