Bergvliet singer and harpist, Christy-Lyn Marais is singing her way into the second round of The Voice SA.
She is the first harpist to be represented on the national singing competition, where she competes against other singers while accompanying herself on the harp.
During the audition round she wowed coaches with her crystal clear rendition of Scarborough Fair and was selected by coach Kahn Morbee to join his team.
Karen Zoid called her the “weirdest” thing that has ever been on The Voice SA, while Bobby van Jaarsveld and Kahn applauded her for transporting them to another world with her beautiful music.
Lira was delighted that Christy-Lyn plays the harp, complimented her flexibility by incorporating her classical training into other styles of singing, and said that she was a stellar addition to the show.
Christy-Lyn is the resident singer-harpist at the Vineyard Hotel in Claremont and has a thriving YouTube channel with over
700 000 views from a large international audience.
She gives monthly live online concerts where people from all around the world watch and ask questions as she performs in real time.
Christy-Lyn loves connecting with her audiences and giving a wow-factor performance which touches people’s hearts.
She performs regularly for weddings and private events in Cape Town.The next step for Christy-Lyn takes her to the Battle Round of the Voice SA, to be aired this Sunday April 9, at 5.30pm, on MNet Channel 101. She will be paired with another singer and will battle against them with a song chosen by coach Kahn.
