Sandra Graham, secretary for Kirstenhof Community Police Forum
The CPF and Kirstenhof police mourn the loss of Geoff Fox who was the CPF chairman for many years.
Geoff was already at Kirstenhof police station when I joined as a victim empowerment programme (VEP) trauma volunteer about 17 years ago.
He was chairman of the CPF and had established himself as a dedicated, committed volunteer, a leader in the community. I remember him visiting just about every crime scene, supporting SAPS, attending the victims, and generally making his presence felt. I believe he was a SAPS reservist at one time and even completed one of our VEP trauma courses so he could better assist the community.
He worked extremely hard, giving so much of his time and energy to being a conduit between SAPS and the community.
From being a treasurer on the CPF executive committee to being elected the chairman and progressing to cluster chairman, Geoff had experienced it all when he eventually stood down from the cluster position and rejoined the CPF as a treasurer once again.
His institutional knowledge has filtered down to successive excos over the years, and we, on the exco, have all received messages with advice about how things should be done especially if he felt we were straying off course.
We will certainly miss him at our CPF and sector sub-forum meetings, and our deepest sympathies go to his wife, Sue, his family and all who will miss him.
