The City is resurfacing sections of Main Road in Wynberg and Plumstead and Tennant Road in Kenilworth and has advised motorists to find alternative routes to avoid congestion.
The work, due to be completed by the first week of May, is taking place from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 3.30pm at Tennant Road between Highwick Drive and Lovers Walk in Kenilworth; Main Road between Malton and Stilton roads in Wynberg; and Main Road between Blenheim and Waterbury roads in Plumstead.
Traffic moving on Tennant Road from Alexandra Road towards Newlands Road will be deviated around Tennant Road on either Main Road or Alexandra Road.
Traffic moving on Main Road from Malton Road towards Constantia Road will be deviated around Main Road on Ebor Road and Lester Road.
Traffic moving in the northbound lane on Main Road will be accommodated in contra-flow in the southbound lane.
Felicity Purchase, the mayoral committee member for transport, said the work was part of regular road maintenance.
“Although no road closures are anticipated with any of these works, where necessary, flag personnel will regulate traffic flow either by temporary lane diversions or temporary lane closures.”
The public should comply with posted signage and not park in an obstructive way to prevent disruptions, she said.
